FAQs

All the questions that you may be thinking answered. If there is anything I've missed that you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to reach out.

What does a first session with you look like?

Before we meet, I’ll send you an intake and consent form to gather some background information and understand your goals for therapy. In our first session, we’ll go over some of these details, but mostly, I’ll invite you to share about yourself and what you’re looking for in therapy. You’ll also have plenty of time to ask me any questions. This session is about getting to know each other and seeing if we’re a good fit to work together.

Do I need to prepare for sessions?

There’s no need to prepare anything specific, but it can be helpful to take a moment before our session to check in with yourself. You might reflect on what’s been coming up for you lately or any specific topics you’d like to explore. That said, you’re also welcome to simply show up as you are, and we’ll navigate the session together.

What are your rates?

Please see available therapy packages for bundles and additional support services

Standard Rates outside of packages:

South African residents: R1,120 per 50-minute session

International clients: R1,600 per session

I also offer a reduced rate for students and/or young professionals starting out. Reduced rates are offered upon application and are accepted depending on current availability.

How do I claim from Medical Aid?

All invoices are sent out once monthly, at the end of each month and must be settled directly with me. Thereafter you are able to claim back from your medical aid. Different schemes may have different rates and usually you will be able to claim back a portion of my session rate and not the full amount. Please check with your medical aid what your mental health benefits are for the plan you are on.

You can also apply for a PMB which you will need to do through, either your GP, or a referring Psychiatrist. Once your PMB has been approved you can claim up to 13 sessions per year through your medical aid, of which, a portion of the rate will be covered.

How do I get the most out of my online therapy sessions?

I wrote a blog post about this to help clients set themselves up successfully for online therapy. Check it out: How to get the most out of your Online Therapy Sessions

Do you work with couples?

I’m not a couples therapist, as this is a specialized field that requires specific training. However, I sometimes invite my clients to bring their partner/family member into a session when it feels helpful for deepening communication and connection.

Do you work with men?

I primarily work with women, as this is my area of expertise. That said, I’m open to working with people of all genders and wouldn’t turn someone away based on gender alone. If my approach resonates with you, let’s connect and see if we’re a good fit.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Yes, absolutely. This is very important to me and I am passionate about creating safe spaces for individuals who are looking to explore their identity and heal from harmful past experiences that may have hindered personal identity development.

Do you give homework to do in between sessions?

I sometimes offer gentle practices or reflections to explore between sessions, but nothing rigid or overwhelming. This could be journaling prompts, mindfulness exercises, or small shifts in your daily routine that support your growth. Everything is optional—this is your journey, and we’ll tailor it to what feels right for you. If you would like weekly journal prompts or guided practices outside of sessions, please refer to the therapy packages and/or additional support services available.

How often should I see you when starting therapy?

It’s best to start with weekly sessions to build a solid foundation and create momentum in your healing process. As we progress, we can adjust the frequency based on what feels most supportive for you.

Can I book a single session, or do I need to commit long-term?

You’re welcome to book a single session to see how it feels. If you’re unsure you can also book a free clarity call. Thereafter we will usually agree on a short-term timeframe and take it from there.

How long will I need to be in therapy for?

There’s no set timeline—some people come for a few months to work through something specific, while others prefer ongoing support. My approach is about helping you build a deeper connection with yourself, and we’ll continuously check in to see what feels most supportive for you.

Do we have to do yoga or meditation in order to work together?

Not at all! While I sometimes integrate mindfulness, breathwork, or movement into my work, therapy is always tailored to your needs and comfort level. If these practices resonate with you, we can explore them together, but they’re never a requirement.

What if I feel nervous before starting therapy?

That’s completely normal! Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, but my space is warm, non-judgmental, and supportive. You don’t have to have everything figured out—just showing up is enough.
